FINALLY! Here’s my second Friday Thrills review! We have the contemporary paranormal romance novella MUSIC FOR A MERMAN by Alice Renaud!
Released by Black Velvet Seductions on November 1st, 2019, this paranormal romance novella is a contemporary romance featuring my personal favourite, mermaids! Well, merMAN!
Rob Regor knew that humans were trouble. All the shape-shifting mermen of the Morvann Islands knew it. And human women were double trouble, especially when they were lying on the road in front of a digger.”
Rob has a mission. Go to the mainland. Work as a policeman. Find out as much as possible about the mainland humans. Report back to his father, the head of the Regor Clan. It should be easy.
Until he has to arrest Charlie. Rob can’t fight his attraction to the sexy eco-warrior, and it puts him on one hell of a collision course with his family and his Clan. Will he break the rules – or break her heart, and his?
I loved the MC, mainly because Charlie is so confident. That sometimes lacks in a female main character, the confidence, the spunk, the determination. I loved every minute of it! Also, of course, loved Rob too, but how can you not? A sexy cop that’s ALSO a merman?? Jeez, be still my heart
The story is well thought out and paces nicely, especially since it’s a novella, so it’s on the shorter side. I usually steer clear of novellas, but this one ticked all the boxes for me. I love paranormal romances and I’m a big fan of mermaids.
The heat between the main characters sizzles when I read it. It’s also the quality of writing, which is excellent–I always have problems with showing vs telling, and Alice has it down to an art. I definitely learned a few things and plan on writing my own mermaid tail…oops, TALE too!
